The 2025 summer transfer window is now open in France until 8pm on 1 September, so the rumours surrounding Paris Saint-Germain are piling up. This time it’s L’Equipe who are reporting that 18-year-old defender Naoufel El Hannach, who trained at PSG and is under contract until 2027, is on loan at Montpellier.
“Appreciated by the Spanish coach, who decided at the start of the season to include him in his squad, the central defender should be looking for playing time in Ligue 2 next season. According to sources inside PSG, the French capital club have reached an agreement with Montpellier on a loan deal for the 18-year-old, with no option to buy as the club is not selling.
After signing his first professional contract a short while ago, El Hannach can hope to start accumulating game time. This is difficult at PSG, where the competition is fierce and the demands particularly intense. What’s more, he wasn’t able to take advantage of the end of the season and the rotation to show himself, as he went to the final of the CAN U20 with Morocco (which he lost to South Africa). That’s a good thing too, but it doesn’t necessarily help PSG score points.
In any case, a loan deal makes sense, and the strong link with coach Zoumana Camara (a former Parisian player and coach) at Montpellier could help us reach an agreement. It is at least an interesting option, even if the challenge is not an easy one: to help the club get back on its feet following its descent into Ligue 2.
