Ibrahima Diaby (19), a central defender trained at Paris Saint-Germain, has made his departure from the Parisian club official via a message posted on Instagram. In his post, the young titi was keen to thank PSG for his career, thus confirming the end of an important stage in his young career.

#mercatohttps://t.co/9mZjj4cc7t

“These six years of learning and wonderful encounters here at Paris Saint-Germain will remain with me forever. Grateful to the Most High for having had the privilege of wearing this red and blue tunic, and for having defended these colors with such love, passion and fervor.

I’d like to thank all the wonderful people I’ve met during this wonderful adventure, my team-mates with whom I’ve shared unforgettable moments and trophies that will bind us forever. […] City of Light, a big THANK YOU!”

The departure of 19-year-old Ibrahima Diaby highlights the difficulties faced by some of Paris Saint-Germain’s talented youngsters in establishing themselves in the professional ranks. Despite years spent working his way up through the club’s ranks, Diaby has failed to make the step up to the first team, an observation shared by many “titis” in recent seasons.

His message of thanks on Instagram reflects both his gratitude to the club that trained him and his frustration at not having been able to defend PSG’s colors at the highest level.

His departure once again raises the question of the place given to young players in a club where competition is exacerbated by the presence of international stars, and where opportunities for products of the training center remain limited. For Diaby, as for others before him, the future will now be written far from the Parc des Princes, with the hope of establishing himself elsewhere and proving his worth on other turf.
