Pedro Fernandez Sarmiento, often called Dro Fernandez, is reportedly very close to joining Paris Saint-Germain this winter. The 18-year-old midfielder does not want to extend his contract, which expires in 2027, with FC Barcelona and has a €6 million release clause that PSG could have triggered. Le Parisien, L’Equipe, and Ici Paris now claim that the deal will be finalized for €2 million more.
Le Parisien:
Subject to a medical examination, which he will undergo soon, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder will arrive in Paris where he is expected to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract, running until 2030. Discussions had been underway for several days, but progressed slowly between the clubs regarding the €6 million release clause.
The two clubs negotiated at length to agree on a slightly higher fee.
Ici Paris:
The young midfielder will first have to undergo a medical examination before signing a five-year contract. The transfer fee is estimated at between 6 and 7 million euros, according to ICI Paris Île-de-France.
L’Equipe:
“PSG had made him one of their targets, and the presence of Luis Enrique on the bench, with whom he shares the same agent, worked in their favor. He is expected in Paris shortly, where he will sign a contract until 2030. Keen to find a solution that eases tensions with Barça, PSG will pay slightly more than the €6 million release clause, for a total sum of around €8 million.”
All the media outlets agreed within hours, so there’s really no doubt. Especially since this has been the trend for several days. This effort by PSG stems from a desire to preserve the relationship with Barça, in particular. We suspect that Paris isn’t doing things haphazardly; we can only trust them. Let’s hope above all that everything will be cleared up quickly. It’s always welcome when a matter doesn’t drag on, and additional resources could be a real asset.
