The future of Ibrahim Mbaye, an 18-year-old winger for Paris Saint-Germain, could lie away from the capital. According to L’Équipe, numerous German and English clubs have expressed interest. Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are currently offering the two projects most likely to persuade the young Senegal international.

PSG leaves Ibrahim Mbaye to decide his own future

“Initially inclined to stay in France, Ibrahim Mbaye had his situation clarified by Luis Campos and Luis Enrique. Both men assured the player and his entourage that he would receive similar playing time and that the decision regarding his future was up to them. The sporting advisor even floated the idea of a loan.”

Paris Saint-Germain does not appear to be actively pushing Ibrahim Mbaye out the door, yet cannot guarantee him a more significant role in the rotation either. The potential arrival of new attacking players adds to this uncertainty. In this context, a move could offer him greater consistency, while a loan deal would allow the Parisian club to retain control over his future.

“European club officials and Ibrahim Mbaye’s representatives—led by Jorge Mendes—are now waiting for Paris to clarify its stance and set an asking price for interested parties. They are already aware that the Parisian leadership will not stand in the way of a departure should a satisfactory offer arrive.”

Nevertheless, the matter hinges on PSG’s decision. Before negotiations can truly advance, Paris must determine its financial demands and likely choose between a permanent transfer and a loan. While the club is not ruling out a departure, that does not mean they will accept just any offer for a player developed at the PSG Campus who remains under contract.

Numerous suitors in Germany and England

“Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leipzig, and Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, as well as Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Chelsea in the Premier League, have all made moves with varying degrees of concrete interest.” »

This list illustrates the interest Ibrahim Mbaye has attracted, though not all leads carry the same weight. L’Équipe notes that the approaches vary in terms of concreteness; some clubs may have simply made inquiries, while others have already presented their projects. Competition exists, but it is too early to identify a clear frontrunner for his signature.

“As reported by the German press, Leverkusen also submitted an offer to PSG—the amount of which was not disclosed—but it was rejected.”

This rejected proposal represents the most concrete development among the various expressions of interest. It confirms that Bayer Leverkusen went beyond mere inquiries, though the specific demands of the Parisian club remain unknown. PSG’s refusal could stem from an insufficient offer or a desire to wait and see how the market—which is particularly active regarding the player—evolves.

Liverpool and Dortmund pull ahead

“Two projects currently appear to stand out: Liverpool and Dortmund. Both clubs have already had ample opportunity to present their cases and try to convince Mbaye to join them.”

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund appear to be the most advanced options, yet Ibrahim Mbaye has not yet made his final decision. Playing time will likely play a pivotal role in his thinking. A club capable of offering a clear path for steady development could thus gain the upper hand over a more prestigious destination that offers competition comparable to what he currently faces at Paris Saint-Germain.
