Yan Diomande, the 19-year-old RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast striker (under contract until 2030), has been linked with a move to the club by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain. The Athletic reported on Thursday that Liverpool have taken the lead in the race for his signature.
“The Merseyside club are also in the strongest position with the player”
Liverpool have made contact with RB Leipzig as they step up their pursuit of forward Yan Diomande.
The Merseyside club are also in the strongest position with the player over a potential deal at present.
“Paris Saint-Germain maintain a strong interest of their own but are not currently as advanced as Liverpool. “
Leipzig have consistently stressed that the 19-year-old is not for sale and that it would take a bid in excess of €130million (£112.4m, $151.2m) to change that stance.
We remain cautious; nothing is finalized yet. We’re mainly seeing rumors multiplying, especially regarding this matter, without any certainty. We’re still waiting for concrete information to know more. For example, Diomande declared his love for PSG yesterday. That’s an interesting point, even if it doesn’t guarantee anything for the transfer window.
Liverpool undoubtedly has its arguments, and other clubs may also have a say. Leipzig, in particular, doesn’t intend to let its striker go unchallenged. This could be a summer saga; let’s remain patient.
