Ferran Torres, the 26-year-old forward for FC Barcelona (under contract until 2027) and the Spanish national team, has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain during this transfer window. L’Équipe reported on the situation this morning, noting genuine interest from PSG but nothing definitive yet. Barça still has a say in the matter, while Paris is exploring other options. Real Madrid could also spring a surprise.

The situation regarding the 26-year-old forward—under contract with Barça until June 2027—had stalled in recent months. Against this backdrop, several European clubs made inquiries—well before his national team’s title win—starting with Paris Saint-Germain. With his versatility and ability to play any attacking position—particularly the “false nine” role as interpreted by Luis Enrique—Torres ticks a lot of boxes. Paris has not yet submitted a financial offer to the Blaugranas, and this is not the only option being considered by the capital club’s management.

“The current Paris coach has already called him personally to express his interest.”

As proof that the interest is genuine, the current Paris coach has already called him personally to express his interest, outline his tactical vision, and explain the role he would play in the “City of Light.” Torres was very receptive to this approach, especially given that he does not feel the same level of attention from the Catalan leadership.

Should the club’s management change its stance, a contract extension for Torres cannot be ruled out, as he is happy in Barcelona. Otherwise, PSG could become a priority option. The capital club is currently biding its time, aware that the buzz surrounding his goal-scoring form could drive up the price in the short term. Real Madrid could be among the other options being considered.

It is often said during the transfer window—and remains just as true—that it is best to remain cautious as long as there are only rumors. The Ferran Torres story has been reported by numerous media outlets, yet without a shred of confirmation. Consequently, it is difficult to gauge the true status of the situation. However, concrete interest from PSG is certainly plausible.

He is a player who fits perfectly into the philosophy of coach Luis Enrique, who gave him his international debut during his time managing the Spanish national team. The forward is versatile, capable of playing in any attacking position. He also prioritizes the collective effort, engaging in intense pressing and looking to link up with teammates. Furthermore, he does not complain when named as a substitute; instead, he channels all his energy into helping the team once he takes the pitch—something he has done admirably at both Barça and the international level, particularly during the World Cup. The Spaniard is also accustomed to starting matches—an area where Gonçalo Ramos appeared to struggle at PSG.

Then there is the opportunity presented by his contract situation, given that Barça has not particularly pushed for an extension. If coach Luis Enrique has indeed contacted him (which is possible), the player might well be swayed by that show of confidence. A transfer seems entirely feasible, though by no means a certainty; the clubs would still need to negotiate. At the same time, Paris may be preparing multiple options in order to finalize the most attractive deals. Negotiations between the clubs could ultimately prove to be the deciding factor.
