Senny Mayulu, the 19-year-old midfielder/forward who came through the Paris Saint-Germain academy, signed his first professional contract in May 2024, running until 2027, and has established himself in the first team over the months. This has fueled rumors and speculation about a contract extension, but there’s also talk of a stalemate. L’Equipe provides an update this Friday.
Three offers made, but no progress.
Since the two parties began discussions, three proposals—all offering a new five-year deal—have been submitted to him, all of a similar standard but with different performance-related bonuses. There has been no significant progress, nor has the door been slammed shut.
The club has never hidden the fact that no one is irreplaceable, as evidenced by the precedent set by Gianluigi Donnarumma. At this stage, the mood seems to be one of de-escalation, although a resumption of negotiations is not currently planned. The possibility of a positive outcome remains.
Clubs are making inquiries, but Mayulu is playing it safe.
In recent weeks, several clubs have made inquiries. The player himself has so far postponed asking questions. The French U21 international says he is focused on the end of the season, with the French league title to defend and the upcoming Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.
As always, we urge caution regarding what is currently only a rumor. There is no concrete evidence, therefore no certainty. Mayulu has not commented, and neither has PSG. We can only assume that the discussions are not straightforward, since there is no indication that an agreement is imminent despite his contract expiring soon.
Mayulu is at a turning point in his career; he is no longer simply “a youngster.” But he must also remain patient. We have seen many players push themselves too hard and ultimately have careers that don’t seem to reflect their potential. Playing time is important, but you also have to be able to accept competition at the highest level in order to progress.
Let’s wait for confirmation, as rumors surrounding the young player multiply without any concrete evidence.
