Regulations after Brexit mean players must be 18 to transfer out of England, unless they are a dual national with a country in the European Union. Gabriel’s father Joe O’Cearuill won two caps for the Republic of Ireland, while his mother has Cypriot heritage.

However, one must remain cautious regarding other aspects of this tricky situation.
