Alexei Batrakov, the 20-year-old Russian attacking midfielder from Lokomotiv Moscow (under contract until 2029), is one of Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer targets (his agent has confirmed this). It remains to be seen where the various discussions will lead. L’Equipe reported on Monday that PSG is indeed making significant progress in securing the young talent’s transfer.
“Their sporting director, Luis Campos, is in pole position and is not about to relinquish it.”
“The two-time Champions League winner, through its sporting director Luis Campos, holds the upper hand and isn’t about to relinquish it. With 45 contributions (28 goals and 17 assists) in 62 appearances since his first start in the Russian Championship in May 2024 at the age of 18, this player follows in the footsteps of playmakers developed on the other side of Europe, such as Andrei Arshavin, Alan Dzagoev, and Dmitriy Alenichev.”
Confirmations are mounting for Batrakov’s arrival at PSG; there’s at least one lead that seems quite concrete. However, we know that football and the transfer market can move very quickly. Therefore, we remain cautious before declaring the signing final.
It’s a rather “exciting” signing, with a player touted as a huge talent, but one we know very little about given how rare footage of Russian football is these days. There is still reason to trust Luis Campos and PSG in this choice.
