Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old forward for RB Leipzig (under contract until 2030) and the Ivory Coast national team, was recently linked to a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Since then, however, the situation has cooled significantly. According to journalist Malick Traoré (NCI), the deal might even be off the table entirely, due to a dispute between two agencies over the management of his rights.
Due to the complexity of the situation (image rights, etc.), PSG is set to pass on Yan Diomandé… The European champions have a new target: Eli Kroupi Jr.. As of now, YD is under contract with both Maxidel and Roc Nation… the matter is currently before the CAS.
Nothing is certain yet, as this remains merely a rumor. However, it is entirely plausible that PSG is at least frustrated by the situation. They are unlikely to want to deal with such uncertainty throughout the transfer window, especially given that the negotiations themselves are already complicated enough. Leipzig does not want to sell their forward and will demand a hefty fee, particularly given the stiff competition; Arsenal and Liverpool, among others, have been mentioned in recent hours.
Furthermore, this legal issue is not a good sign when considering a player who brings turmoil to the Paris squad—even if one shouldn’t reduce everything to a single incident. Hesitation is understandable, and PSG—given its current stature and resources—should have other recruitment options available. One such example is Eli Kroupi Junior, the 20-year-old Bournemouth forward mentioned by the journalist. That said, nothing is finalized yet; the wisest course of action is always to wait for something concrete.
