The 2025/2026 winter transfer window takes place in January, which is fast approaching, and rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain are piling up. This time, it’s L’Equipe that claims the PSG management has already made a strong decision, although changes are possible depending on “opportunities.”

“The desire to give opportunities to young players from the academy.”

“After a summer with three signings, PSG hasn’t changed its approach, and the current trend doesn’t seem to be towards over-activity. While the string of injuries since the start of the season has inevitably led to reflection on certain positions in recent weeks (versatile right-sided center-back, midfielder, and winger), the club’s management seems, for the moment, to want to remain true to its strategy.

It believes it has a squad well-equipped enough for its quest for a second Champions League title, with the desire to give opportunities to young players from the academy.” Subject, of course, to the squad being at full strength.

Potential departures.

For the club to be active in terms of new arrivals, we must refer to the “great opportunities” mentioned by Campos. With six months until the World Cup, do such opportunities exist on the market? PSG is reportedly not entirely convinced. The other avenue being explored concerns potential departures and the need to replace them. Matvei Safonov and Lucas Beraldo – who has complained about his playing time – seem to be prime candidates. PSG claims to be prepared for any eventuality.

Nothing is impossible, since this aligns with the statements made by the management and coach Luis Enrique since last summer. Many observers and fans want new signings, but PSG is much less focused on this “need” for fresh faces.

This is understandable, given that this squad has won the Champions League. Since then, Ilya Zabarnyi has been added, Lucas Chevalier has replaced Gianluigi Donnarumma, several players have returned to form (Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Lee Kang-In), and academy graduates are establishing themselves (Ibrahim Mbaye and Quentin Ndjantou). It’s difficult to see any significant gaps to fill.

It’s important to remember that new signings must improve the squad, which isn’t easy, all while facing very stiff competition. And the club must be willing to sell at a price deemed acceptable by Paris. The transfer window is never easy, and a signing can also disrupt the team. For example, Liverpool made a lot of signings this summer and are struggling as a team.

PSG is undoubtedly gathering information and preparing, but without making a push for any particular player. They need to consider their options, including potential departures. Even though Beraldo’s desire is currently just a rumor, already denied by the Brazilian defender.
