The 2025 summer mercato is now open in France until 8pm on September 1, so the rumors surrounding Paris Saint-Germain are piling up. On Monday, L’Equipe reported that PSG have a clear idea for their midfield.
“The question arises of recruiting a different profile to the players already present in this sector. The dominance of Moisés Caicedo on Sunday was a reminder of the athletic deficit. The decision-makers, for their part, would like to add experience to the midfield. With a high-level profile comparable to Munich’s Joshua Kimmich (30, under contract until 2029).”
Mind you, there’s nothing very specific here. First of all, we’re talking about athleticism, then about Kimmich’s experience. Kimmich is an excellent player, but doesn’t fit in with the idea of a particularly athletic player.
And this idea put forward by the sports paper doesn’t really say who might come along. Players of the German international’s calibre are difficult to recruit, and it’s hard to see who would be particularly available this summer.
Above all, we get the feeling that L’Equipe is making a wide-ranging tour of the PSG mercato, without particularly knowing what is in the offing. Even if we can agree that a recruit capable of bringing physical impact could do us good, without forgetting the technical aspect of course.
This is less clear-cut in terms of experience, with coach Luis Enrique often rejecting the idea in front of the press. And we can’t say that the European champion has particularly suffered in this area this season.
