Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 28-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, has been struggling of late and has been rather sidelined by coach Luis Enrique. So the idea of a mercato departure is taking hold. L’Equipe reported on Thursday that contacts are underway for a possible replacement for Jhon Duran (a 21-year-old striker close to Al-Nassr).
“As has been the case for several weeks, Villa are also still in contact with the entourage of Parisian Marco Asensio (29, under contract until 2026). The Premier League’s 8th-ranked club has never halted talks, and the option of a move to England is still on the table for the former Real Madrid player.
Paris Saint-Germain is not closed to a departure in the form of a permanent transfer.”
Nothing impossible, Aston Villa could well be looking for an attacking player and Asensio has talent, with a possible rather accessible cost and an easy door to open given his situation.
We remain cautious, however, as there is still nothing concrete to report on this rumoured move.
