Following the official announcement of 7 Parisians’ extensions, Ligue 1 resumed on Friday evening with the 21st matchday of Ligue 1, pitting Paris Saint-Germain against AS Monaco. And it was clear that Paris were keen to keep the party going, as they inflicted a heavy defeat on ASM (4-1, PSG/Monaco video highlights). Denis Zakaria, midfielder for the club du rocher and scorer of tonight’s goal, spoke to DAZN about the heavy defeat:
There were two extremely different halves, wouldn’t you agree?
Yes, in the first half we managed them quite well. It’s a shame, because I think we had something to play for today.
Is PSG very strong?
Honestly, yes, I think PSG have never been stronger. We came up against a great PSG team.
Zakaria: »ils ont appuyé sur l’accélérateur et ont réussi à nous poser des problèmes »
What are your areas for improvement?
In terms of maturity, I think we conceded some pretty silly goals. I think it’s up to us to gain confidence and work on that.
Was there a lack of reaction?
Reaction, I wouldn’t say. After 1-0, we managed to come back. In the second half, they stepped on the gas and managed to cause us problems, but unfortunately we weren’t able to come back and that’s a shame.
Can we move on quickly after a defeat like that at the Parc des Princes?
No, it’s up to us to move on quickly, because this match against Benfica is important.
