Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 25-year-old goalkeeper who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract running until 2026 (following the end of his own at AC Milan), is regularly called into question by fans and observers alike. Even so, an extension has been under discussion, except that things have been rather complicated of late. On Tuesday, his agent reiterated the player’s desire to extend his contract to the Chiamarsi Bomber. He explained that they had accepted the new policy on contracts and that there had been no contact with Inter Milan or other clubs.
Raiola “There has been no contact with Inter or other clubs”.
“There has been no contact with Inter or other clubs. PSG have repeatedly expressed their desire to continue with Donnarumma and it’s the same for him. I think that if the player is put on the market, he’ll have no problem finding teams interested in him, but at the moment there are no open doors in that direction. If anything should change in the coming months, we’ll make our assessment.
Raiola “We have accepted PSG’s new policy in terms of contract management and we are working on the hypothesis of renewal”.
Donnarumma is the goalkeeper for PSG and the national team, and he’s highly regarded by several clubs, which is perfectly normal. Contacts for a renewal were already initiated last summer, and we’re working calmly in this direction.
In view of the rules imposed by UEFA, the club is doing an about-turn from a financial point of view, going from a salary of over 500 million euros to less than half: we have accepted PSG’s new policy in terms of contract management and we are working on the hypothesis of renewal, trying to find the best solution, but for the moment there is no urgency”.
A strong statement from the player’s agent. It is clear that there were problems with the new policy of fixed and variable contracts. PSG, the player and his agent will now have to come to an agreement.
However, there remains the question of PSG’s willingness to continue with the great Italian goalkeeper, who is not always beyond reproach. Often criticized, Paris could be tempted to look elsewhere. In any case, we’ll soon know more, as PSG have been making quicker decisions of late.
