Paris Saint-Germain hosted LOSC on Saturday evening in Ligue 1, as they prepared for their clash with Liverpool. And the Parisians put on a show, as Lille only saw the light of day and touched the ball late in the second half, when Paris decided to manage their game. In the end, the Rouge et Bleu came away with a 4-1 victory (PSG/Lille video highlights), giving them a 16-point cushion over the runners-up. Dogues defender Bafodé Diakité gave his post-match impressions to DAZN.
Diakité: “We’re a bit disgusted with the first half we put in”.
Is there better preparation?
No, we came up against a very good Paris team. I think that’s put us in good stead for the match that awaits us on Tuesday. We’re a bit disgusted with the first half we played. We showed a face that we’re not used to showing. At half-time we told ourselves we had nothing left to lose, so we tried to put on a different face in the second half.
How do you explain this first-half performance?
I don’t have a complete answer, but I think there was a discrepancy between what we were supposed to do and what we did. That’s all behind us now, and we’ll try to refocus for Tuesday’s game.
What do you do when you’re a defender and the danger is as unpredictable as it is at PSG?
It’s complicated, you try to run on one side but you know that danger can come from the other. It’s also a question of the whole team’s desire to defend.
Was there one player who made your head spin more than another this evening?
I think that today we noticed more of a collective. That wasn’t the case in other years. They have this desire to pull out all the stops together. In previous years, that wasn’t really the case and it’s not what we felt, but it’s what we feel now.
