Aston Villa’s Villa Park stadium was ablaze on Tuesday evening, as they took on Paris Saint-Germain. Although the English side were keen to make history and get back on level terms, they came up against a dominant Parisian side. In the end, however, Paris gave themselves a fright and suffered in the second half. But not enough for Unaï Emery’s men to snatch qualification. In the end, the match ended 3-2 (Aston Villa/PSG video highlights), and the aggregate score 4-5. Aston Villa coach Unaï Emery spoke to Canal+ about his disappointment:
Emery: “Tonight we played the game we needed to play”
How disappointed are you tonight?
It’s hard to say, both teams were very good and tonight we played the game we needed to play. We had chances to make the game different. I’m proud of the work we did, very happy, but at the same time I feel we could have done more. But I’m very happy with the two games we played against PSG, but also with our supporters and the fact that we came so close to winning.
