Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal 0-1 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday evening (see summary here). While the result was very positive for the Parisian club, English supporters were filmed (images relayed by RMC Sport) shouting monkeys at the Parisian delegation. The Parisian club and SOS Racisme will lodge a complaint, as Le Parisien reports.
How can this still happen in a stadium when everyone knows about it? Why are there no far-reaching sanctions to prevent it from happening again? We live in an age where everything is filmed, so it’s possible to find solutions.
The authorities are too inactive on these issues and this must not happen (anymore). Soccer is a popular sport, but that doesn’t give fans every right to break the law. We’re waiting to see what happens next, whether in this case (with PSG) or with other clubs. The world of soccer needs to be pacified.
