Paris Saint-Germain won 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) against Arsenal (PSG/Arsenal video highlights) this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes as part of the return semi-finals of the Champions League 2024-2025 (final on May 31). After the victory, Paris midfielder João Neves (20) spoke to Sport TV.
“In this kind of match, it’s a good way to learn. We’re more used to having the ball, so we have to know how to suffer. It was a very tough test, but it was good for us. If you give your best, you’re closer to what you want.”
Of course, it’s nicer to dominate, to be several goals ahead. But you have to accept that it’s impossible to experience only matches like these. All the more so in the Champions League and, of course, in the semi-finals. There’s an opponent with great qualities.
As Neves rightly points out, you have to be ready to fight to go all the way. We had to suffer in this semi-final. That’s one of PSG’s great improvements on recent seasons.
When it’s more difficult, when you can’t put the pressure on with goal-scoring opportunities, you have to stick together to protect the goal. The Parisians have shown this strength and deserve their place in the final. We must not give up now, because Inter Milan are obviously a formidable opponent.
