Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain’s 26-year-old goalkeeper, spoke to Prime Video Italia after the 2-1 win (3-1 on aggregate) over Arsenal on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes in the return leg of the Champions League semi-finals 2024-2025 (final on May 31). He spoke of his notable progress since the spike he received in the face last December from Wilfried Singo (24-year-old AS Monaco defender).

“I’m trying to work on my weak points and I think I’ve improved. I seem to be a bit meaner, it’s made me more aggressive”, comments relayed by RMC Sport.

There was considerable concern at the time of the clash, but that’s long gone now. Donnarumma has not only returned to good health, but has also put in a string of decisive performances at the highest level. A little more “aggressive”, as he puts it, he is gradually erasing his shortcomings off the line.

The Italian doesn’t say it directly, but this injury has pushed him to improve. It’s almost enough to say “thank you” to Singo, even if we can’t really encourage such a lack of caution. All the same, it could well have been a decisive move in PSG’s season. Even if Donnarumma was a great player before, of course.
