Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is not an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Sunday against Auxerre (10th) at the Parc des Princes as part of the 34th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 9pm, CET).
5 – Auxerre, a pleasant team.
A soccer match is always a 2-team affair, so it’s nice when PSG’s opponents have a rather attractive idea of how to play. Such is the case with Auxerre, who try to make the most of the ball. Although there may be a defensive adaptation against PSG, we can hope to have a rather audacious opponent when they don’t have much pressure of a result.
4 – Ramos ready to confirm?
Gonçalo Ramos has been in a rather special situation since his arrival. Coach Luis Enrique uses him relatively regularly, but more as a substitute in big games. At times, however, he shows immense potential.
Such was the case last Saturday with his hat-trick at Montpellier. The hardest thing is to follow that up when the competition is so fierce. Let’s hope that the goals he scored will give him the confidence to be more decisive.
3 – Doué and Barcola, a new lease of life?
In a PSG with an impressive collective heading towards a historic season, Désiré Doué (19-year-old midfielder/forward) and Bradley Barcola (22-year-old forward) are two players who have been a little less in form of late. Nothing to worry about in the long term, of course. But before the two finals, it would be nice to see them back on top form.
2 – Last match at the Parc des Princes this season.
This particularly intense season is coming to an end, even if there’s the Club World Cup to follow. This will be the last match at the Parc des Princes, so we must make the most of it. All the more so with the possibility of a title celebration at the end. Even if we’ll have to remain sober, given the big dates ahead.
1 – Finals in preparation.
As already mentioned, PSG have the French Cup final against Reims on May 24 and the Champions League final against Inter on May 31. These fixtures are bound to be on everyone’s minds, particularly when it comes to managing playing time and the things that need to be seen both individually and collectively.
