Paris Saint-Germain and Auxerre faced off this Saturday at the Parc des Princes as part of the 34th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025. The match ended in a 3-1 Parisian victory (PSG/Auxerre video highlights). After the match, Auxerre’s coach spoke at a press conference. He underlined his team’s performance, even if it was a rather logical defeat in the end.
“I’m very satisfied with the match we played and the ambition we showed in the game. The second half was tougher, as our opponents were wearing us down, and we lacked a bit of lucidity on the ball. In fact, we conceded two goals after losing the ball in our own half. But I’m very proud of what the boys showed”, comments relayed by L’Yonne Républicaine.
Pélissier’s feelings are understandable. Auxerre put in a rather interesting performance collectively, with a lot of effort and some fine phases of play. But it was too difficult to hold out against PSG. Which is relatively logical, given their great individual and collective qualities.
These include possession and intense pressing when the ball is lost. Elements that wear down opponents both physically and mentally. There’s no respite, no let-up. It’s hard to keep going for 90 minutes, especially when you’re in the middle of the action.
