French football fans had their eyes locked on the Coupe de France final this Saturday night, as Paris Saint-Germain faced Stade de Reims in a packed Parc des Princes. PSG, already finalists in the Champions League, dominated their opponents, securing a 3-0 victory (watch the video highlights). Samba Diawara, Reims’ head coach, spoke to beIN SPORTS after the match, reflecting on the loss.
Diawara: “A team that was simply too strong for us.”
How do you feel after this match?
“It’s a logical defeat against a team that was simply too strong for us. We were already drained from a tough match a few days ago and couldn’t keep up, especially early on. Even if we were at 100%, I’m not sure we could have matched their intensity. Hopefully, they’ll be the next European champions.”
PSG slowed the tempo—happy with the second half?
“It was important not to collapse and concede multiple goals. We managed to avoid that, which is a positive takeaway. I think PSG eased off a bit in the second half, saving energy for their upcoming matches. It makes sense. Congratulations to them—they’re a great team. We hope they win the treble.”
How are your players feeling ahead of Thursday’s match?
“We’ve got five days to recover. The toughest part was going from Wednesday’s game straight into this one. Now, we have time to prepare for our decisive match. Five days should be enough. After that, it’s all or nothing.”
