Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as a defensive priority for Paris Saint-Germain this mercato. There is even talk of some progress towards a transfer. Journalist Ben Jacobs, however, put a damper on things this Saturday.
“The PSG offer has been rejected. A departure is still possible, but Bournemouth remain firm on the price and are reluctant to sell.”
While several media outlets were talking about a transfer close to being settled, here’s a big leap backwards. It’s not impossible that an agreement will finally be reached for Zabarnyi, but it’s not a foregone conclusion either.
We must always be cautious at the mercato, with rumours coming too quickly and without any certainties. So we’ll have to wait and see.
