Paris Saint-Germain won 0-2 against Seattle Sounders (video highlights Seattle Sounders/PSG) on Monday at Lumen Field as part of Matchday 3 of the 2025 World Cup. After the match, Paris coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique “It’s always nice to see teams from other countries”
“We didn’t start the game well, but we deserved the result. I’m happy, we can improve on something. It’s not easy, it’s difficult to have fluidity on the pitch, it’s different to Europe, but we’re trying to adapt.
It was a tough match. Seattle played well, with intensity. I liked the way they played. It was good to see. Mr. Schmetzer is a great coach. They’re a very hard-working team. It’s always nice to see teams from other countries. I congratulate them because they competed and made it difficult for us.”
Enrique “We’re a long way from European stadiums”.
“What counts is the state of tahe pitch. And I say that today, even though we won. We’re a long way from European stadiums. They’re good, but the ball bounces like a rabbit.
Today, because it used to be an artificial pitch, and now it’s a natural pitch, you have to water it by hand and it dries out in 10 minutes. It’s an obvious problem; it’s not an excuse.”
Enrique “We play in stadiums where the ball looks more like a rabbit”
“We can’t play at the level we want. And FIFA must take this into account. Not only in stadiums, but also at training camps. I can’t imagine an NBA pitch with holes in it.
We play in stadiums where the ball looks more like a rabbit than a ball. If we have to criticize, it deserves to be changed.”
