Rodrigo Mora, FC Porto’s 18-year-old attacking midfielder/winger (under contract until 2030), who has made a remarkable professional debut, has been mentioned as a target for Paris Saint-Germain this summer. PSG Inside Actus reports this Saturday that PSG have reached an agreement with the player and are now keen to move forward with the Portuguese club.
“Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up negotiations to recruit Rodrigo Mora. According to information I received yesterday, a verbal agreement has been reached between the player and the capital club. Discussions are now focusing on Porto, who remain firm and do not wish to sell their striker for less than the amount of the release clause.
Nevertheless, Paris is considering including a player on loan with an option to buy (as I said earlier), or spreading the payment over two or three years, in order to convince the Portuguese club. A decisive meeting is scheduled for the end of next week.”
A relatively credible one, given that Mora has been mentioned by several media outlets and for some time now. It’s conceivable that the various discussions will progress, but it won’t be easy. Porto aren’t going to make a gift of their new prodigy, and Paris aren’t just going to break the piggy bank.
However, nothing is certain. Neither is the fact that intense discussions are well underway, let alone that a deal will be possible. There is the possibility of paying the clause, estimated at 70 million euros, but nothing says that PSG would go that far. The matter remains too vague, and it’s best to remain cautious. Especially as Mora’s willingness is far from certain.
