Lucas Digne—the 32-year-old Aston Villa (contracted until 2028) and France national team left-back, who previously played for Paris Saint-Germain from 2013 to 2016—has been linked with a return to PSG via the activation of a release clause worth approximately €10 million. Reports from journalist Benjamin Quarez indicate that the player has successfully passed his medical examination.
Lucas Digne successfully passed his medical today. He is set to sign his three-year contract tomorrow before going on vacation. PSG will pay Aston Villa less than €10 million for this transfer.
With that hurdle cleared, there is no reason for the transfer not to go through. While football—and the transfer market in particular—can often be unpredictable, we can certainly prepare to welcome Digne back to PSG. This move would bolster the squad with an experienced player ready to serve as backup to Nuno Mendes (24), at least initially. Competition is inevitable, of course; the player must realize that securing a starting spot will be a challenge, yet he must also remain confident in his abilities and ready to help Paris achieve its goals. He will be aiming for a more successful stint than his first—something we all hope for him.
