Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 29-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, failed to fully establish himself with coach Luis Enrique. So he was loaned out to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024-2025 season, but was not retained by the English club. After his return, we’re waiting to find out what his future holds. L’Equipe now claims that PSG have received a €15 million offer from Fenerbahçe.
“Fenerbahçe is not only negotiating with PSG to sign defender Milan Skriniar (30, under contract until 2028) on a permanent basis. The Turkish club has also made a €15 million offer to the Parisian club for the transfer of midfielder Marco Asensio (29, under contract until 2026). The former Madrid man must now decide whether or not to join Istanbul. Fenerbahçe coach José Mourinho is trying to convince him to do so.”
A relatively credible announcement, also made by El Chiringuito:
We can’t say that agreeing with this media outlet is a guarantee, as we’ve already seen that it often advances at random. However, L’Equipe followed suit and confirmed the offer, which had already been rumoured from Turkey but without the amount.
It seems quite credible for a talented player who lacks consistency. Fenerbahçe would be a good way out, with a fairly competitive and ambitious team, all in a country passionate about soccer.
Let’s wait and see what happens. The transfer seems possible, but there’s no certainty.
