Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2029) and Ukraine, has been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s defensive priorities for the mercato. There is even talk of some progress towards a transfer. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that Tottenham is bringing in some serious competition.
“The club would be ready to pay the 70 million requested”.
“Tottenham are trying to secure the services of Bournemouth’s Ukrainian defender, Ilia Zabarnyi. If the defender opens up to Spurs, the club would be ready to pay the Cherries’ 70 million asking price, including bonuses.
However, Paris Saint-Germain are also very interested in the English club, who have made offers of around €60 million, all of which were rejected by the English club.
The player’s priority is the French club, so we’ll have to see whether another offer from Psg to sign Bournemouth arrives, or whether Zabarnyi decides to open up to Tottenham.”
We remain cautious, there’s nothing official here. It’s a new rumour, relatively credible but not concrete. However, we suspect that Zabarnyi is attracting other clubs, who may well try their luck. Tottenham could be one of them. And with substantial resources.
However, let’s not forget the “game” of the mercato, with a rumor that could come from the player’s entourage or Bournemouth to put pressure on PSG. And let’s not forget the rumors that are used to “keep a file alive”. In any case, we’re hoping for something concrete soon. Possibly with an acceleration from PSG.
