Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as a defensive priority for Paris Saint-Germain this mercato. There is even talk of some progress towards a transfer. Journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook have now confirmed Tottenham’s interest, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Friday.
Earlier, the Italian journalist suggested that Tottenham were interested, and would be willing to pay the 70 million euros demanded by Bournemouth. This is a point of concern for PSG, who are unwilling to go higher than €60 million for the time being. The Ukrainian is said to be ready to come to the capital.
We remain cautious, however. There are only rumours at the moment and nothing concrete. Zabarnyi is a very good defender who can attract offers, so let’s wait and see what negotiations are confirmed and where they might lead. But it’s clear that PSG won’t be alone in this matter, if they are indeed present.
If there’s a desire to recruit, we may not have to wait too long. These rumours could come from the player’s entourage or from Bournemouth, in order to put the pressure on.
