Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract until 2028) and Ukraine, has been announced as a defensive priority for Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer window. There is now talk of an imminent transfer to PSG. RMC Sport announced today that he should arrive in the coming days, following Lucas Chevalier (23-year-old goalkeeper from Lille and the French national team). The latter is expected on Friday, while coach Luis Enrique wants both players by next Wednesday’s European Super Cup against Tottenham.
“Luis Enrique wants Chevalier AND Zabarnyi before Wednesday. The goalkeeper is expected in Paris within 24 hours.
After Chevalier, PSG officials are moving quickly to sign Zabarnyi in an effort to reach a definitive agreement with Bournemouth before the end of the week.”
All the media are reporting that these two deals are almost complete, meaning signings by Wednesday are a possibility. And it’s easy to believe that Luis Enrique prefers to have his new players as quickly as possible. However, we remain cautious, knowing that the exact timing of transfers is always difficult to predict. We also remember that there was talk of signing Zabarnyi before the Club World Cup.
So we’re waiting for certainty, even though it seems almost certain that Chevalier and the Ukrainian defender will be Parisians very soon.
