To open the second matchday of the French Ligue 1 championship, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Angers SCO at the Parc des Princes and won 1-0. On the sidelines of the match, Parisian coach Luis Enrique reflected on his players’ performance on PSG TV.
Enrique: “It was difficult, but we’re happy, we have to keep going.”
“The emotions are very special. It’s always different playing at home with our fans, with their support. It’s superb. The overall result of this match is positive; we won, and our opponent hardly attacked.
We pressed very well when we lost the ball, and I think we created enough chances to win this match. We’re happy; it’s always difficult to play against these types of opponents who defend well. It was difficult, but we’re happy, we have to keep going.”
Enrique: “It’s nice to see the photo and celebrate with our fans.”
“These five trophies are the memories of this year. We have to stay focused and work hard to win as many important trophies as possible; that’s our goal. It’s nice to see the photo and celebrate with our fans, but we want more and we have to be ambitious.”
PSG secured the essentials this Friday by securing a second victory against the Angers club. Still in the midst of their preseason, the Parisians must redouble their efforts in each match to win against teams that are 100% defensive and simply try to counterattack. This Parisian team still manages to remain solid and patient in order to find the opening.
Three competitive matches and already three wins for the capital club, which is still in its preseason phase. A promising start, even though the important period will begin in September. The Champions League will arrive very quickly and this is obviously when Luis Enrique and his men will have to be at their best.
