Paris Saint-Germain faced RC Lens on Sunday and won 2-0 on Matchday 4 of Ligue 1. After the game, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV about the victory, which was marred by injuries. The Spanish manager also commented on the tribute paid to Presnel Kimpembe, the 30-year-old defender leaving the club after more than eleven years of loyal service.

Enrique: “I think we used this match to dedicate the victory to him.”

“We spoke before the match about many different and difficult situations, but I think the team deserved the win.

Presko?

It’s always special for all the fans and all the players. I think we used this match to dedicate the victory to him. He has been very important for the club, for the supporters, for his teammates. He has always helped the club and I’m happy for him, I wish him the best.”

Enrique: “We have to wait for the tests to know the extent of these injuries.”

The week ahead?

“The Champions League is coming, it’s a special moment. We know how difficult this competition is, but at the same time we are calm and we hope to play a good match for our debut. Today we tried to rotate players to give everyone the minutes they need, but it was difficult because three players got injured. We have to wait for the tests to know the extent of these injuries.”

It was an important win for PSG, but a costly one as Luis Enrique lost three of his players on Sunday. Just two days before the Champions League, it’s obviously bad news, even if the extent of the absences still has to be assessed. Winning was nevertheless essential for PSG to maintain the gap already built with their main title rivals.

The afternoon was crowned by the tribute to Presnel Kimpembe. A PSG youth academy product, the “Titi” spent all of his eleven professional years at the Parisian club. His departure comes after that magnificent Champions League victory in May, the perfect way to end his adventure at the club.
