Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (2nd), held a press conference this Friday ahead of their match against Auxerre (10th) at the Parc des Princes tomorrow (kick-off at 9:05 PM, CET), for matchday 6 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. Alongside this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV. He discussed the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday and the match he expects tomorrow.
Luis Enrique: “It’s incredible!”
How did you experience this special Monday?
It was a different week, a very different week. There were so many emotions. It’s nice to receive individual awards, as Ousmane Dembélé did, but also for the club. It’s nice, but the best part is seeing the reaction from people after the Ballon d’Or and receiving this love.
It was nice to share with everyone what we achieved last year. But, at the same time, it’s a challenge for us. We want to keep going. We are on the right path. We are ready for the match tomorrow.
Any pleasant surprises?
It’s great to have this feeling for the team; football is a team sport. It’s not an individual sport. We have the fans with us, with what we have shown, and 9 players in the top 30. 2 in the top 3, that’s incredible!
Luis Enrique: “We want to improve what we can improve.”
Three important points tomorrow, how will you approach Auxerre?
To be honest, at this stage we always look at the opponent and we always have respect. In recent years, the matches have been very difficult. There was a draw and a 3-1 win, but with 2 goals at the end. Tomorrow, we will analyze ourselves and look to improve what we can improve. We know that, as is usually the case at home, there will be limited space and time to choose the best play. It’s a challenge. We’ve had a good week of training. The match is tomorrow, and we’re looking forward to it.
