This Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0 against Auxerre in matchday 6 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season at the Parc des Princes. Here are the highlights and lowlights of this victory.
Highlights –
Ilya Zabarnyi.
The 23-year-old defender, signed this summer from Bournemouth, is settling in very well. Comfortable in the game (apart from one mistake late on), he contributes a lot to PSG with his strong tackling and ability to manage the space behind the defense. He is also a threat from set pieces. He scored his first goal for PSG, which helped provide some breathing room against a well-organized team.
No goals conceded.
It’s never insignificant; being solid defensively is essential. It’s good to have a clean sheet before facing FC Barcelona. This is particularly important for Lucas Chevalier’s confidence. Especially since he made two good saves.
Young players making a good start.
This Saturday evening, Quentin Ndjantou (18-year-old forward) and Mathis Jangeal (17-year-old midfielder) made their first appearances for PSG. The academy players had positive debuts, which is always a pleasure. We hope they can build on this.
Lowlights –
Injuries.
There are concerns about Vitinha (25-year-old midfielder), but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old forward) clearly felt pain in his thigh. PSG loses another player, hopefully only for a short time.
Gonçalo Ramos.
With so many forwards currently injured, we hoped Ramos would take advantage of the playing time to show what he can do. However, he simply doesn’t have enough impact and lacks sharpness and effectiveness. This is a real disappointment, and questions will arise about his role and his future.
