Paris Saint-Germain won 2-1 against FC Barcelona at the Montjuïc Stadium on Wednesday, in the second matchday of the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League. After the match, Barcelona’s left-back, Gerard Martin (23), spoke to the media in the mixed zone.
Gerard Martin: “PSG imposed their rhythm and style of play.”
“The score was fair, because in the second half, PSG imposed their rhythm and style of play. Towards the end of the match, we felt they could score at any moment, and that’s what happened. We were overwhelmed,” he said, as reported by Le Parisien.
The Barcelona defender offered no excuses or regrets; he was quite clear: PSG were the better team. He acknowledged that they had to accept the result and work harder to do better next time. Above all, one can be impressed by the Parisian team, who managed to get the better of a very good Barcelona side, despite some key players being absent.
Furthermore, we saw a remarkable level of physical strength from a team that has played a lot of matches in 2025 and had limited preparation time. We can only applaud the work of the Parisian coaching staff and the professionalism of the players.
