Lille’s current situation –
After several years of inconsistency, with periods of excellent results, internal tensions, and coaching changes, Lille seems to be stabilizing somewhat. At least, Bruno Génésio, who arrived in June 2024, is not rumored to be leaving. However, there have been some disappointing results. Despite this, the start of the season has been quite good: 6th place in Ligue 1 and 2 wins in the Europa League, including one against AS Roma.
This is largely thanks to a summer transfer window that seems to have been particularly successful. There were some important departures that could have raised some concerns, but the Lille players have already shown good team spirit, the playing style remains consistent, and the potential is promising.

Lille’s style of play.
Bruno Génésio’s LOSC Lille likes to control possession, ideally in the opponent’s half, and vary their attacking approach. Their desire to maintain high pressure can even lead them to attempt to set offside traps. And they have some very good attacking players to exploit any opportunities that arise.
Clearly, PSG will need to be alert and in top form to avoid any nasty surprises. Lille could also adapt by adopting a more defensive approach, but then their counter-attacks would be a real threat. It’s quite possible, however, that Lille will prefer to stick to their usual tactics, aiming to disrupt PSG’s build-up play.
