PSG, somewhat at the end of its tether with seven players absent and some needing a breather, couldn’t do better than a 1-1 draw in Lille. It’s frustrating, especially after leading, but it was a tough trip. At least the added unity allowed them to hold onto first place.
Indeed, Olympique de Marseille had started the weekend perfectly with a 0-3 win at Metz, without much of a scare (and quite logical). It was enough to cap off a good period and put the pressure on. Lyon lost to Toulouse at home after missing the second half, a regrettable setback. Monaco also dropped points, but it was by coming back from 0-2 down. So, there’s a feeling of having “saved” the situation a little.
Strasbourg did much more than that against Angers and was even able to ease tensions with its fans by scoring a string of goals. This can only be good during the international break. We should also note Lens’s strong comeback from the previous match after a difficult start. Especially since it was 1-1 when the red card came in the 73rd minute, and they had to win at the end of added time.
A very annoying result for Auxerre, however, where concerns are starting to mount. Nantes, for their part, managed to pick up a few points recently, even if the draw against Brest isn’t exactly a positive either. For Brest, that is. This is similar to the situation for Le Havre and Rennes, while Paris FC confirmed their good run against a Lorient side who are unable to really move away from the relegation zone. Even if there is some improvement.
