Ousmane Dembélé, 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker, spoke to Canal+ after the 2-7 victory against Bayer Leverkusen this Tuesday at the BayArena as part of Matchday 3 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. He discussed the team’s performance and his return from injury.
Dembélé: “We had a bit of a difficult period.”
Is this the champion’s performance?
Yes, that’s right. We started the match well by opening the scoring. Then, we had a bit of a difficult period where there were a lot of yellow cards and red cards too. I think we could have avoided our red card, but that’s how it is. We stayed in the game with two goals from “Des,” which did us good. We just had to keep going in the second half.
Dembélé: “We have to keep going like this, it’s only the first half of the season.”
Is this the first time you’ve scored seven away goals in the Champions League. Is that anecdotal, or does it count?
It does count. We have to keep going like this. It’s only the first half of the season. We’ll have to be just about on target, whether in the Champions League or the league. We’ll continue our journey slowly; it’s only the first half of the season, and that’s it.
Dembélé: “I feel good, and little by little, I’m getting my feelings back.”
How did you feel about the break after your return?
Very well. I was a bit on tiptoe. When you come back from injury, you’re not 100% yet. I already wanted to come on against Strasbourg, but the coach told me to wait a bit. I felt very good in this match and then I saw the opportunity coming, a good ball from Bradley and I just had to put it in the back of the net, I feel good and, little by little, I’m getting my feelings back.
