Elected Golden Boy 2025, Désiré Doué (20), attacking midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to Tuttosport about the behind-the-scenes story of this award. The young Parisian described the congratulations he received within PSG — a mix of closeness with his teammates and respect for a collective effort that, according to him, made this recognition possible.
Doué: “I have to thank all my teammates, because it’s thanks to them that I received this recognition”
“They all congratulated me, starting with the players my age, with whom I’m very close, like Warren Zaïre-Emery, Bradley Barcola, Senny Mayulu. Hakimi made one of his jokes. As soon as he saw me arrive at the training center, he kept calling me Golden Boy. He kept repeating: Golden Boy, Golden Boy, Golden Boy!
But I have to thank all my teammates, because it’s thanks to them that I received this recognition. If we hadn’t won matches, if we hadn’t played the way we did, if we hadn’t lifted trophies, I wouldn’t have received this award.
My future goals? Always aim for the biggest objectives, just like this year.”
The midfielder trained at Rennes doesn’t take any credit for himself: he highlights the importance of victories, trophies, and a dressing room that immediately embraced him. The first to congratulate him were Warren Zaïre-Emery (19), Bradley Barcola (23), and Senny Mayulu (18) — a united Parisian generation growing together and embodying the club’s new identity. Even Achraf Hakimi (27), always ready to tease, welcomed him like a hero. That small detail says a lot: Doué has blended into a group that functions well and recognizes his talent without putting pressure on him.
He also points out that the award would not have existed without the club’s momentum or the constant ambition driving the team for the past year. Together, they aim even higher — and Doué has clearly exploded, becoming indispensable.
