Paris Saint-Germain travelled this Wednesday to face Athletic Bilbao and conceded a draw 0–0 for Matchday 6 of the Champions League group stage. Speaking to PSG TV, 21-year-old midfielder João Neves reflected on the draw.
Neves: “We have the next games to do even better.”
“We gave everything, as always. I think we were missing a goal tonight. But that’s how it is, football is like that. We always have to learn and improve for the next match. We have the next games to do even better, but it was a very difficult match against a very defensive team that also attacks well. We had chances, but that goal was missing. The atmosphere? It was incredible, the coach had told us about it.”
PSG’s performance was generally good, even if they were obviously missing that goal that would have secured three important points. An away match in the Champions League is never easy, especially in Bilbao where the atmosphere is always intense. Coming back with only one point means the Parisians cannot afford to drop any more points in the last two group-stage matches. They need to secure a top-8 finish, and two victories now seem essential.
