Pedro Fernandez Sarmiento, often called Dro Fernandez, has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this winter. The 18-year-old midfielder has refused to extend his contract with FC Barcelona, which expires in 2027, and has a €6 million release clause that PSG are keen to trigger. Journalists Santi Aouna (Foot Mercato) and Fabrice Hawkins (RMC Sport) claim the deal is practically done.
Santi Aouna:
Agreement reached between PSG and Dro Fernández
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the midfielder will sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with the capital club.
Paris will trigger the €6 million release clause.”
Fabrice Hawkins:
“PSG contacted FC Barcelona to trigger Dro Fernández’s release clause. An agreement has been reached between PSG and the attacking midfielder on a four-and-a-half-year contract.”
Everyone is in agreement on this matter; it would now take a major surprise for Dro Fernández not to join PSG. This should happen very soon. However, it’s not signed yet, and things can move very quickly in football. But a deal that’s progressing this quickly (the player wasn’t mentioned in connection with Paris yesterday) usually means a transfer is in the offing.
This could be a very shrewd move, with a talented and versatile player who seems a perfect fit for PSG’s project. For €6 million, it was a great opportunity.
