Pedro Fernandez Sarmiento, often called Dro Fernandez, has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this winter. The 18-year-old midfielder doesn’t want to extend his contract with FC Barcelona, which expires in 2027, and has a €6 million release clause that PSG would like to trigger. Journalist Marc Mechenoua (Le Parisien) has confirmed that an agreement has already been reached for the Spaniard’s contract.
Dro Fernandez and PSG have agreed on a four-and-a-half-year contract, running until June 2030.
Paris is in pole position (thanks in part to Luis Enrique’s strong involvement) but has not (yet) activated the €6 million release clause in the Barcelona player’s contract.
Confirmations are mounting, and doubts are fading. Dro Fernandez looks set to become a PSG player very soon. A great signing for the Parisian club, securing a talented and versatile player whose contract Barcelona wanted to extend. The €6 million release clause seems like a steal now; Paris clearly seized the opportunity. It’s not yet official, so we’re remaining cautious. But the mood is certainly optimistic.
