Paris Saint-Germain secured a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes, marking Matchday 1 of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase. Following the win, PSG midfielder Dro Fernandez (18) spoke to the media in the mixed zone.
Dro: “We showed a good reaction.”
A welcome victory?
It was very important for us to win today. I think we showed a good reaction, and we’re off to a great start in this Champions League campaign. The coach told us before the match that we needed to improve in certain areas. I think we put in a very professional performance today. We’re happy.
Was it a surprise for you to start the match?
I won’t lie (smiles). Yes, I wasn’t expecting to play, but ultimately, I’m ready to play whenever needed—to help the team—and I’m very happy.
Dro: “I’m more confident.”
Do you feel physically fit?
I think I’m in better shape; I’m more confident. But honestly, playing alongside these teammates makes it very, very easy. They make everything simpler. I think I’ll keep improving; I still have plenty of room to grow. I hope to keep this up.
Was the opposition not very tough?
It’s a great result; we played a very good match and we’re very happy with the outcome.
What are your personal goals for this season?
To keep helping the team whenever I can. I’m always ready. I’m in no rush; I’m very happy here.
Dro: “A unique player who surprises me every day.”
Was it important to win after the last match?
Yes, as I said, we didn’t have the start to the season we wanted, but we responded very well today. The team put in a very solid performance, and the result reflects that.
A word on the performances of Ferran Torres and Dembélé?
I had the chance to meet Ferran at Barça, so I knew what kind of player he is. He’s going to be very valuable to us. As for Ousmane, he’s a Ballon d’Or-level talent—a unique player who surprises me every day in training. He’s a wonderful person. I’m very happy for him and grateful for his help, just as I am with the other teammates.
