On Tuesday, during Matchday 7 of the 2025-2026 Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain faced Sporting Lisbon at the Estádio José Alvalade. After a match where the Parisians dominated but largely missed their scoring opportunities, they ultimately lost 2-1. Here are our player ratings for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Lucas Chevalier (5) – A very quiet first half. He could do little about Sporting’s goal. On the second goal, his clearance wasn’t exceptional, and he might regret not having been more inspired.
Defenders –
Warren Zaïre-Emery (6) – Impactful, courageous, and physically in top form, Zaïre-Emery started this match perfectly. He could have had a goal awarded, but the referee disallowed it for a foul by Mayulu. A less convincing second half, but he still delivered a solid overall performance.
Marquinhos (5.5) – While not doing much defending, he also moved into midfield to distribute the ball cleanly. He was sometimes on the edge in duels.
Willian Pacho (6.5) – He is ruthless in duels. Very difficult to get past, he again showed in the first half that he provides excellent control and allows his teammates to press calmly.
Nuno Mendes (6) – It’s hard to find fault with him. He may have pushed forward less, but he also provided solid defensive cover. A little tired towards the end of the match, he finished somewhat timidly.
Midfielders –
Senny Mayulu (5) – A good first half. He gradually faded in the second half. Replaced by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 66th minute.
Vitinha (6) – He touched the ball a lot, directed the play, and tried many things. He just lacked that final touch to make it even better.
Fabian Ruiz (5.5) – He was very involved. He managed the passing well. Like Vitinha, he lacked the technical precision that would have allowed him to finish more of his attacks. He was a little less prominent in the second half. Substituted in the 80th minute by Ilya Zabarnyi.
Forwards –
Bradley Barcola (6) – He tried a lot, but his decision-making was lacking in the first half. He didn’t manage to score, but he had a good game. Substituted by Gonçalo Ramos in the 70th minute.
Ousmane Dembélé (5.5) – A good first half. We’re gradually seeing the sharp Dembélé again. He sometimes lacked a bit of composure to make a real difference.
Désiré Doué (5) – His first half was decent, but it’s true that we expect more. He still needs to find his best form; he didn’t always make the right choices. Valuable in bursts, he lacked consistency.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (4) – Surely disillusioned by the way the game unfolded, he can at least take credit for his team completely stifling the opposition in the first half, and especially for his team’s ability to come back after conceding the goal, which is a small consolation. His PSG side, however, is less “brilliant” than last year, probably due to a lack of cohesion. He was predicted to have a more difficult season, and he’s certainly experiencing it.
