On Tuesday at the Estádio José Alvalade, Paris Saint-Germain lost 2-1 to Sporting Lisbon in Matchday 7 of the 2025-2026 Champions League. As we now do after every match, we asked our readers to vote for the best PSG player of the game. Warren Zaïre-Emery (a 19-year-old midfielder currently playing at right-back) won.

This victory was far from illogical, as Zaïre-Emery continues to perform well in the interim right-back position. While his attacking contribution isn’t quite on par with that of Achraf Hakimi (27), it would be unfair to criticize him. The young Parisian is solid in duels, ensures the team’s distribution, and contributes as best he can. He was also one of the few to register a shot on target, and even scored, although the goal was disallowed for a foul by Senny Mayulu.
It’s still quite symbolic, with another defensive player in second place, Willian Pacho (24-year-old defender), even though PSG largely dominated the match. It highlights a lack of efficiency after a game in which the forwards had plenty of opportunities to shine. Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward) still managed to make it onto the podium, albeit with difficulty. But it’s clear that the attacking side disappointed.
Thank you for your votes. As a reminder, the top three finishers from each match are then used to determine the Player of the Month.
