This Sunday, the women’s teams of Paris Saint-Germain and OL Lyon faced off at the Parc des Princes for Matchday 14 of the 2025-2026 Première Ligue Arkéma. After the 1-0 defeat, coach Paulo César spoke to PSG TV.
Paulo César: “It’s not the result we were expecting, but I’m still satisfied.”
“We lacked a bit of concentration. They scored on one of their only chances. There’s disappointment; it’s not the result we were hoping for, but I’m still satisfied. The performance is important, and I see significant progress from my team, who were very combative on the pitch. That’s what our fans expect, and me too. We have to keep working so that it pays off in the future.”
Of course, it’s always frustrating to lose. Especially since PSG desperately needs points to finish in the top four and qualify for the league playoffs. The nine points lost administratively are a bitter pill to swallow, even if there’s a chance of recovering them. In the meantime, they need to work hard on the pitch.
In any case, the Parisian women still need to win to maintain any hope of winning the title at the end of the season. The road ahead seems long and difficult. Nevertheless, Paris has made progress; there are encouraging signs in this defeat against Lyon. The improvement is clear since the 6-1 loss in the first half of the season. They still need to be sharper and more efficient in their play. These are important “details” to iron out, but the gap is closing. They need to build on this and redouble their efforts moving forward.
