Each month, the UNFP (French National Union of Professional Footballers) organizes the election of the best player in Ligue 1. For the January 2026 election, one Paris Saint-Germain player is a finalist. The competition is between Mason Greenwood (24-year-old attacking midfielder for Olympique de Marseille), Endrick (18-year-old striker for Olympique Lyonnais), and Pavel Sulc (25-year-old attacking midfielder for Olympique Lyonnais).
Nothing illogical here; PSG has been inconsistent, while their players have often shone, even if OM hasn’t been entirely successful this January either. It might be surprising not to find any RC Lens players, but it’s primarily a very strong team effort, rather than individual talents, that is being recognized. We also know that goals play a significant role in these votes, and Warren Zaïre-Emery (the 19-year-old PSG midfielder) was very good during January. But not particularly prolific in terms of goals.
