Ousmane Dembélé, the 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker, spoke to Ligue1+ after the 3-1 defeat against Rennes this Friday at Roazhon Park in Matchday 22 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. He sent some very strong messages.
Dembélé: “If we play alone on the pitch, it’s not going to work.”
Not exactly the return to form you were hoping for here in Rennes?
“We started the match very poorly, and then Rennes played a very good game. I think we need to show more desire, and above all, we need to play for Paris Saint-Germain to be able to win matches. Because if we play alone on the pitch, it’s not going to work. We’re not going to win the titles we want.”
Dembélé: “Paris Saint-Germain must come first.”
Last season, we put the club, the flagship, Paris Saint-Germain first before thinking about ourselves. I think we need to rediscover that, especially in these matches. We know we’re in the second half of the season, and Paris Saint-Germain must come first, not individual players.
A bit of a letdown after the Classique?
No, as I said, we have to play for the club first before thinking about ourselves. I think Rennes played a very good match; they were out for revenge. They deserved their victory.
