Paris Saint-Germain defeated Metz 3-0 this Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 23 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “We need to keep improving.”
What did you think of Dro Fernandez’s first start?
“He showed his quality, his ability to defend, to carry the ball. He showed his level; we need to take it step by step. He’s very young and still developing. What I saw on the pitch was very good.”
Are you keeping an eye on the match between Lens and Monaco?
“We watched a bit of the Lens match before we started our game talk. Lens is having a very good season. They motivate us. It will be difficult.” We need to keep improving because Lens and Lyon are in great form.
Enrique: “He’s intelligent with the ball and puts in incredible physical effort.”
Is Warren Zaïre-Emery a player whose versatility you appreciate?
“He’s Warren, that’s his style! He’s intelligent. He plays in conjunction with his teammates, he’s intelligent with the ball, and he puts in incredible physical effort. He’s a wonderful player!”
Why was Désiré Doué substituted at halftime?
“It’s nothing. He was a bit tired. That’s why we changed him.”
Is Monaco’s victory a wake-up call for PSG?
“Who can think it’s already over? This will be the second match, and if Monaco wins, they advance. We have to play the same way and aim to win.”
Can Ilya Zabarnyi be positioned in midfield?
“He’s a very great player, but he’s a center-back.” A midfielder is more of a player with additional individual qualities. He’s more of an attacker than a defender, a midfielder. I’m very happy with Zabarnyi’s level. It’s his first season and it’s always difficult to have confidence when you first arrive.
